With a love for strong, people-centred storytelling and passion for data-driven journalism, Peter Kim joined the Global News team in 2013.
He began his career as a writer with Global BC after studying broadcast journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), where he co-founded the school’s chapter of Journalists for Human Rights. While still a student he produced a radio documentary for the CBC that aired nationally in 2005.
Peter later transitioned to radio as a producer/reporter for CKNW NewsTalk 980 in 2006. Highlights of his coverage include the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games and an investigative series on gasoline prices awarded with an RTNDA award in 2007.
In 2011, Peter arrived in Toronto to work as a reporter and consumer affairs specialist for CityNews Toronto and an anchor on their 24-hour news channel, CityNews Channel. As journalist and communicator, he’s provided in-depth, insightful coverage on a broad range of stories with a particular interest and skill in the areas of technology, public policy and human rights.
